State Bound!

The Hartford Union High School girls basketball team made their way to Green Bay to play in the state tournament for the first time since 2000, and for the seventh time overall.

They navigated through the Manitowoc Lincoln sectional bracket to advance to the semifinals following a 70-55 win over Brookfield East in the final.

The Orioles' leading scorer Makena Christian told WTKM Sports how they are approaching their trip to state.

"I would say just have fun. Not many teams get the experience, and I haven't been there yet so we are all doing this together...first time. We are doing this as a team, playing together.

The Hartford junior is averaging 25.4 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game.

#2 Hartford Union High School (26-2) plays #3 Neenah (23-5) following the 6:35 p.m. game featuring #1 Arrowhead (25-3) vs. #4 Franklin (20-8) at the Resch Center on Friday, March 8.

The Orioles have advanced to the state title game once, which resulted in a championship in 1992.
