The seventh annual Girls Can Fly Day was held on Saturday, May 16 at the Hartford Municipal Airport.
This free event was open to everyone.
Owner, Operator and Flight Instructor of Cub Air Flight school in Hartford Steve Krog told WTKM how it started.
"There is an organization called Women in Aviation International and they have chapters throughout the United States. There is a chapter here in southeast Wisconsin. They were the primary hosts of this event. It started seven years ago."
Krog says the majority of the women who were in Hartford for the Girls Can Fly Day have a strong interest in flying or being part of aviation.
"Virtually all of them are pilots or soon to be pilots. Everything from airline pilots to general aviation pleasure pilots. There are three or four of them that are air traffic controllers. There was one young lady here representing Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics that's heavily involved in promoting aviation and education throughout the state. There were two young ladies here from the EAA. They have an EAA Education Division and they will come every year to participate in the program to promote aviation education."
U.S. Air Force plane is a Beechcraft T-34 military version, owned by the Confederate Air Force out of Waukesha.
Krog believes they will have an impact on the commercial aviation side.
"It's less than ten percent yet in the commercial world but we are trying to change that."

Chopper is a Blackhawk from the Army Guard at the West Bend airport.
