Memorial Day is Monday, May 25.
Various events are planned in the City of Hartford with the three Veteran groups, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8834, American Legion Post 19, and the United Vietnam Vets of Hartford. The day begins at 6 a.m. with Rifle Salutes at the four city cemeteries. The raising of the Avenue of Flags will follow at Sawyer Park. The Naval and Vietnam Rifle Salutes are scheduled for 9:15 a.m. in front of Hartford City Hall.
The Memorial Day Parade will step off at 10 a.m. and travel on Main Street, through downtown Hartford to Sawyer Park for the Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will be broadcast live on 104.9 WTKM.
The Slinger VFW #3358 will host their annual Memorial Day Parade at 10 a.m. It begins in front of the VFW, located at 201 Kettle Moraine Drive and runs north past Community Park to Union Cemetery for a ceremony at 10:30 a.m.
American Legion Post 522 in Hubertus will be open on Memorial Day, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. VetsNet Executive Director Quentin Hatfield will be the guest speaker and a flag retirement ceremony will be presented.
The City of West Bend Memorial Day Parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held in Veterans Plaza, outside of The Tower Heritage Center.
