Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery at the Subway restaurant at 751 Church Street, in Allenton. It happened Saturday night, June 6 at 8:55 p.m.
A male suspect entered the business and immediately proceeded into the employee work area. The suspect then displayed a black handgun that he had removed from a blue bag and forced employees to the ground. He removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing the business on foot.
The suspect is described as a male, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin-to-medium build. He was wearing all black clothing, including black shoes, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and black gloves.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating this incident.
“This was a brazen and violent act that threatened the safety of innocent employees simply trying to do their jobs," said Washington County Sheriff Martin Schulteis in a press release. "The individual responsible should understand that the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is committing every available investigative resource to this case. We will pursue every lead, utilize every appropriate investigative tool, and work with our law enforcement partners as necessary until the person responsible is identified, apprehended, and brought before the court.”
