The 113th Beechwood Firemen's Picnic will be held on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13. It's a fun tradition which provides funds for the Beechwood Fire Department.
"It's important for us, this fundraiser is by far the largest fundraiser of the year," according to Beechwood Fire Department Assistant Chief Jason Ebert. "It means a lot to go towards our expenses that we have and hopefully help us purchase new equipment within the fire department. One of the things that we've been looking at potentially doing is replacing our front-line engine. These funds will be worked into the budget to work through paying for that sometime in the near future."
The annual event is hosted by the Beechwood Volunteer Fire Department at W8451 County Road S, in Adell.
It starts with Friday's fish fry or shrimp served from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Live music begins at 5 p.m. with the Goodtime Dutchmen, followed by The Noisy Neighbors Trio at 8:30 p.m.
There is something for everyone on Saturday, including the car, tractor and bike show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Firemen's Park by the Beechwood Firehouse. A vendor fair is included from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A bags tournament will be held under the tent at 11:30 a.m.
The Ladies Auxiliary will hold free bingo in the firehouse, which is a new event this year. It's scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
Ebert told WTKM that another big attraction is the water fights at 3:30 p.m.
"There are some bragging rights, some pride on the line for that competition. Teams from area departments come out, shooting water at a barrel that's on a strand to see who can move that barrel the farthest down the line against the other team."
Kiddie rides and games are always popular.
Cherry Pie will perform under the tent at 8:30 p.m.
