Storm damage in Horicon

Severe weather on Wednesday, June 10 has caused significant impacts across Dodge County.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office’s concern is in Horicon, where Highway 33 is closed at the time of this writing due to substantial damage to the fronts of multiple downtown buildings. Emergency crews are working to stabilize the structures before the roadway can safely reopen. Commercial motor vehicles, including semis and heavy equipment, should not travel through Horicon at this time. Detours for commercial traffic have been established.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is also responding to reports of significant storm damage in the Lomira area, along with numerous downed trees and power lines throughout Dodge County. Deputies, highway crews, utility companies, fire departments, and public works personnel are working to identify hazards and restore normal conditions.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to stay away from downed power lines, damaged structures, and emergency work zones.

The National Weather Service is expected to conduct damage assessments in the coming days.

The Horicon Mayor’s office announced that the Red Cross is setting up temporary housing for their displaced residents in City Hall’s Council chambers on Wednesday, June 10. They have more displaced residents than first thought in this case.
