Algiers Goldbug Golf Classic is July 7

The 36th annual Algiers Goldbug Golf Classic scramble is Tuesday, July 7 at the Hartford Golf Club.

It's a charity golf outing benefitting the medical transportation program.

Medical Center Foundation of Hartford's Executive Director Sarah Grotelueschen told WTKM how much it means to them.

"It's so important to us and really important to our medical transportation program. We contract with the Hartford City Taxi along with the Washington County Shared Ride and get people to and from their doctor's appointments. It's a really important program that we have that gets used every day."

Their golf classic helps fulfill their mission to ensure the continuation of free rides and reduced fares for medical needs.

It includes 18 holes of golf with a cart and dinner.

"We want to make it fun," said Grotelueschen. "We have little contests like closest to the pin and longest drive. The winners will receive a prize at the dinner."

The Medical Center Foundation of Hartford was established in 1977 to help community members with services and programs contributing to the health and vitality of the community.
