The National STOL competition is coming back to the City of Hartford.
It’s a day of competitive flying, featuring some of the nation’s top short takeoff and landing this Saturday, July 18 at the Hartford Municipal Airport at 10 a.m.
Owner, Chief Pilot and flight instructor of Cub Air Flight Steve Krog told WTKM all about it.
"Starting Thursday afternoon and throughout the day on Friday, contestants from all across the United States will be arriving. They will do a little practice on Friday afternoon. The things they can do with those airplanes, as far as being able to takeoff. There is an airplane that weighs one thousand pounds and they get it off in ten feet. Unbelievable what they do to these airplanes to modify them to make it happen."
National STOL, short takeoff and landing, represents a competitive series designed for pilots across the nation. Pilots compete in multiple events throughout the year, accumulating points towards an Annual Championship.
In just five years, National STOL has become the leading Aviation Competition Series in the nation.
