Wildfire smoke from fires in southern Ontario, Canada and Minnesota has moved into Wisconsin which is resulting in unhealthy air quality conditions.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality Advisory through noon on Thursday, July 16. Air quality is expected to reach the Unhealthy to Very Unhealthy level, with the potential to reach the Hazardous Air Quality.
Air quality statewide will range from unhealthy for sensitive groups to very unhealthy or even hazardous.
The DNR recommends that residents close their windows and doors, run air conditioning units on recirculate, use an indoor purifier or create a temporary air filter.
The haze may hang around into Friday, July 17 before winds and an approaching cold front begin to improve conditions. Shower and thunderstorm chances increase on Friday with an expected high temperature of 90 degrees.
