Driver arrested after police chase in Kewaskum

A Kewaskum Police Officer attempted to stop a vehicle for excessive and erratic speed on Fond du Lac Avenue, near Prospect Drive in the Village of Kewaskum. It happened on Thursday, July 16 at 12:57 a.m.

The suspect's vehicle continued traveling west on County Highway H, before turning onto Edgewood Drive to travel north. The vehicle failed to stop for the officer and continued at a high rate of speed, traveling north on Edgewood Road. While doing so, the vehicle failed to stop for the required stop signs at the intersections of Brooklane Drive, Forest Avenue, Knights Avenue and State Highway 28.

The suspect's vehicle continued to ignore the officer’s attempt to stop the vehicle and reached speeds in excess of 110 mph on State Highway 28. The officer was able to obtain the registration plate of the vehicle, which matched the description. 

As the officer reached the intersection of State Highway 28 and Townline Road, the on-duty Kewaskum Police Sergeant advised the officer to terminate the pursuit. The pursuit was terminated and an investigation was conducted to identify the driver. 

During the course of the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was identified and located in the Village of Kewaskum at 1:30 am.

The driver, a 22-year-old West Bend woman, was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated- 1st offense, Fleeing and Eluding an Officer and numerous other traffic violations.

She was transported and booked into the Washington County Jail.

Formal criminal charges have been requested with the Washington County District Attorney’s Office for the one count of Fleeing and Eluding an Officer.
