The Washington County Farm Bureau Food Stand is a popular spot at the Washington County Fair – which starts on Tuesday, July 21.

Farm Bureau Food Stand Committee member Tyler Hetterberg told WTKM that during fair week, they typically serve around 5,000 hamburgers, 3,200 orders of fries, around 1,300 cream puffs and 2,300 sundaes.                                  

The food stand at the Washington County Fair is the primary source of fundraising for the Washington County Farm Bureau.

A recent expansion project created more room, according to Hetterberg.

"We have outgrown the food stand, which is a great thing. It was time to make some more room. One thing we really focused on was moving a lot of the heat away from our main base of volunteers. So, all of the cooking is going to be done in this new addition, keeping that heat a little further away and hopefully keep pushing that through the building and out. The other big, big thing we were focused on was trying to streamline a third window."                                        

They were also able to create additional seating and more standing room.

Many donations came in to cover the cost of the project, nearly covering the entire cost of the work.

A ribbon cutting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 at 4 p.m. at the Washington County Farm Bureau Food Stand, at the Washington County Fair.
