Donations are being accepted by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office in order to replace their worn-down protective equipment.

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt told WTKM about what they need.

"It will help us get additional equipment that we don't have, like vests for our corrections staff. We have had a number of attacks on corrections staff in recent years. It's becoming a necessity. We need to equip them with some vests that can protect them while in the jail. We are working on ways to find funding to purchase all of these things."                         

Other safety equipment, like ballistic helmets, need to be replaced at the Dodge County Sheriff's Office. SWAT gear and ballistic shields have also worn down over time.
