Structure fire reported in Germantown

The Washington County Dispatch Center paged the Germantown Fire Department for a report of large amounts of smoke coming from W187N12793 Fond du Lac Avenue, in Germantown. It happened Tuesday morning, August 4 at 3:49 a.m.

Large amounts of smoke was spotted by firefighters on the south end of the building. An aggressive interior fire attack was conducted and crews were met with large amounts of smoke and heat. Additional units arrived on the scene, and the roof was opened up to allow fire personnel to extinguish the fire. Firefighters faced challenges with completely suppressing the fire due to the age of the building and renovations. The fire was extinguished by over 50 fire personnel. 

No injuries were reported. 

Crews worked for three hours overhauling and putting out hot spots. 

Two individuals who were living above the tavern made it out safely.

The building sustained major fire damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
