"Ueck" documentary film in West Bend

A documentary film about Milwaukee Brewers' radio announcer Bob Uecker, called "Ueck" The Story of Baseball's Most Unlikely Legend, is scheduled for a screening at The Bend Theater on Monday, August 17 to Wednesday, August 19 and Saturday, August 22.

Monday's screening in West Bend, at 7 p.m. will be followed by a roundtable discussion with the film's producer and filmmakers, which is part of a community lecture series.

Bob Uecker was known as "Mr. Baseball."

Co-director Michael Vollmann discussed the vision of the film with WTKM.

"When you are making a film about such a beloved figure, someone that people have such a personal connection with...we knew it would be a tough audience. We really did do our best to try and make it a lot of those things that people would be expecting while creating an intimate portrait of Bob. It's extremely funny, Uecker was such a hilarious character."

It was filmed over the final three years of his life. It's a documentary that captures Bob Uecker as he reflects on his journey from Major League Baseball, to Hollywood and all the way to the broadcast booth of the Milwaukee Brewers.
