After 26 years of service to the City of Oconomowoc, including the last six years as Chief of Police, Chief James P. Pfister has announced his retirement.

Chief Pfister thanked the residents of Oconomowoc for their continued support, trust and partnership over the years. January 7, 2027, will be Chief Pfister’s last day with the department as he begins a new journey into retirement.

In a letter addressed to Administrator Frye and Mayor Rosek, Chief Pfister formally announced his retirement. 

"Serving the City of Oconomowoc has been the greatest honor of my professional life," Pfister wrote. "Together, we have worked to strengthen public safety, build community trust, and ensure that our department operates with integrity, professionalism, and compassion."

Chief Pfister went on to say that he ensures a smooth and seamless transition and has every confidence that the department will continue to thrive.
