Kewaskum's 9/11 Wisconsin Memorial is located at 1308 Fond du Lac Avenue.
The next step of their mission involves launching a capital campaign for a permanent, 4,500-square-foot indoor Education Center at Wisconsin's 9/11 Memorial.
This new space will allow them to expand their educational programming year-round and create a place where students, families, educators, veterans, first responders and visitors from across Wisconsin and the Midwest can learn, reflect and remember.
Twenty-five years later, nearly every student who visits the Memorial was born after September 11. Our responsibility is not only to preserve the history of that day, but to help future generations understand the lives that were lost, the courage of those who responded and the extraordinary spirit of service that followed.
As their Board President Dr. Mark Bazata shared in a press release, “Keeping that promise now means teaching people who weren't there.” This Education Center represents the next step in carrying the responsibility of remembrance and service forward.
The 25th Annual Remembrance Ceremony is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 11. The public is invited to join in honoring the lives lost, the courage and sacrifice of those who responded, and the families who continue to carry their memories.
We remember. We honor. We carry their stories forward.
