It's full steam ahead after Hartford Union High School's new strategic plan was officially approved by the board of education. They are moving from the vision setting into active implementation.

Hartford Union High School Superintendent Dr. Stacy Gahan told WTKM that the strategic plan is a road map, of sorts, for the future of the district.

"We really honed in over the summer on our four strategic areas. They are lifelong learning and achievement, finance operation facilities, safe and healthy school and collective engagement. We landed on these areas from the feedback we received over the last year from our parents, from our community and from our students."

Four specialized councils are being created in order to guide key initiatives. It includes a technology council, mental health and well-being, grading and assessment along with capital improvement. Staff, family members and members of the community will contribute to the mission of the councils.   

Each council will meet on a regular basis throughout the school year.
