Construction on the Innovation Way extension project began the week of September 21 with sanitary sewer installation work, in the City of Hartford. The project will extend 2,800 feet of new roadway and curb and gutter along with sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer. When complete, the project will connect Western Drive to the existing dead end of Innovation Way in the City of Hartford Industrial Park.

City of Hartford Engineer Chris Walter told WTKM that they work with other departments within the city to determine what projects are planned. 

"We work together with a lot of the city departments. The City of Hartford has a joint water and electric utility, public works department obviously and then there is a separate sanitary sewer utility. Under the engineering department, is a storm sewer utility. All of those groups, staff members and managers get together and look at what the needs are in the area."   

Completion of all utilities and rough grading of the roadway on the Innovation Way extension project will take place this fall, with asphalt paving work planned for the spring.
