The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a wrong-way driver involved in a crash in the westbound lanes of Highway 16, west of Ryan Street on Sunday, October 4 at 10:14 p.m.
A 23-year-old woman was the sole occupant of a vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 16, when her vehicle struck two oncoming vehicles head-on. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Occupants of the other two vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Highway 16 was closed for six hours while the Wisconsin State Patrol completed accident reconstruction and crews cleared the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office.
