The Hartford Police Department has released information regarding an incident that occurred on Friday, October 9 at the Hartford Union High School Homecoming Parade, in downtown Hartford.
A Hartford police officer noticed a vehicle pulling out of an address in the 400 block of N. Main Street and drove directly into the parade route, even though there were road closed signs posted, orange cones, police cars and department of public works vehicles on the roadway. Several participants in the parade had to move to avoid being struck. She was stopped, pulled into a parking lot, continued on and attempted to pull into the parade route a second time.
The officer was able to positively identify her by her driver's license photo. A citation for reckless driving-endangering safety was issued to a 26-year-old Hartford woman.
No injuries were reported.
