Category: Local News

A resolution, which will initiate a grant program for countywide emergency medical services funding was approved by the Washington County Board.

"Washington County has an opportunity to use the tools available to us to address a countywide problem," said Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann, in a press release. "We've developed a responsible solution that maintains our tax rate, strengthens emergency services and keeps local control where it belongs. It puts taxpayers first."

It is scheduled to begin in 2027 and will support local fire and EMS departments throughout Washington County.

It was approved by the board with a vote of 18-2.

The funding system provides fire and EMS departments with consistent funding in order to continue to serve communities in Washington County at a high level, while handling operational costs.
