Officers with the Germantown Police Department were requested to investigate a criminal incident. During the investigation, officers located the suspect's vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop Tuesday evening, October 20 at 10:57 p.m. The driver accelerated and attempted to flee, resulting in a pursuit. During the chase, the driver operated the vehicle recklessly.

While trying to evade officers, the driver of the vehicle lost control and struck a pole near North 46th Street and West Fairmount Avenue, in Milwaukee.

The 50-year-old driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The 58-year-old passenger sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Milwaukee Police Department was requested to investigate the crash. The investigation remains under review.

“Anytime an incident results in the death of someone, it is a tragedy. Our thoughts go out to everyone involved, including the officers who responded,” said Germantown Police Chief Patrick Merten in a press release.
