Fire in the Town of Addison

Categories: Local News

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center took a 911 call on Wednesday, October 28 at 5:35 p.m. from the homeowners of a residence off of County Trunk W, stating that there had just been an explosion in the garage. Homeowners stated that smoke and flames were visible. Deputies and Allenton Firefighters responded to the scene.

The attached garage was found to be fully engulfed. Allenton Fire upgraded the response to the Box Level and later to the 2nd Box Level. The fire spread through the attic of the residence before being contained and extinguished.

The investigation revealed that the homeowners had previously been cooking outdoors near the threshold of the garage door, and residual heat likely started nearby items on fire which spread throughout the garage. The residence sustained substantial damage, with loss estimates for the structure and contents of $700,000.

The Allenton Fire Department was assisted by the St. Lawrence, Kohlsville, Slinger, Hartford, Kewaskum, West Bend, Theresa, Neosho, Fillmore, Newburg, Jackson, Horicon and Boltonville Fire Departments, Lifestar Rescue, WE Energies and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
