Halloween is Saturday, October 31.
Area law enforcement encourages trick-or-treaters and families to be alert and have fun.
Washington County Sheriff Marty Schulteis reminds residents to aware of your surroundings.
"It's a good idea to know where you are and what's around. Avoid getting into a vehicle, even if the person appears friendly. Children that are out without their parents should know how to contact your parents. We don't say this to scare anyone, but to urge people to be alert and have a good time safely."
Parents or guardians should check their children’s candy, and recommend not taking anything that isn’t wrapped, like home-cooked goods.
Motorists out and about for Halloween need to make sure they slow down, stay alert and most importantly, be sober before getting behind the wheel.
