U.S. Women's Open at Erin Hills begins May 29

The 80th U.S. Women's Open Championship begins on Thursday, May 29 at Erin Hills.

Katy Kluge of Oconomowoc serves as the championship coordinator and told WTKM that it's great to be back in Wisconsin.

"It is wonderful to be back, and more importantly Erin Hills where the U.S. Open was played nine years ago."

The world's top women golfers are playing through Sunday, June 1.

Kluge told WTKM Sports about the history of the United States Golf Association and Erin Hills.

"The USGA has a short, but long history with Erin Hills. They have served as the host for the U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open. They are in an exclusive category there. We have had the second most entries out of any women's open to play in the event."

It's just over 1,900. It just goes to show that the best women's golfers want to play at Erin Hills and win a championship at Erin Hills.
