More than a rivalry game

It's THE GAME on Friday night, September 5 at 7 p.m. with Hartford Union High School on the road to face Slinger.

Both teams are coming off tough losses last Friday, August 29. Germantown defeated Hartford, 45-22 while Badger beat Slinger, 56-17.

The Owls have had the Orioles number the last two years, including a 31-26 win last season. Hartford's last victory with this storied rivalry was 2022, with a 28-21 win.

Orioles' head football coach John Redders is looking forward to the matchup.

"It's a game that all of us look forward to, every year. A lot of the kids know each other, the two towns are so close. It's a big game every year."

Hartford is playing for their first win of the season. The Orioles lost their season opener to Fond du Lac, 24-20.

Slinger started the season with a 37-0 win over Menomonee Falls.

Owls head coach Bill Jacklin says the team records do not matter in this game.

"We always look forward to this one. It doesn't matter how the teams are playing leading up to it. This game brings out the best in everybody. Everyone wants to have their best game."

THE GAME begins at 7 p.m. at Slinger High School with live coverage by WTKM.
