Area high school students with a passion for deer hunting season prepared for a great hunt.
The Slinger High School Outdoors Club Deer Season Kick Off night was well attended and a big success. A record turn out of 80 students and parents attended the meeting.
A three station rotation was presented with guest speakers, and a raffle .
Their guest speakers took the time to further educate on a wide variety of topics.
Ben Gehring from Gehrings meat market taught about how to properly take care of venison after harvest as well as how to process a deer.
Kurt Kowaleski discussed rifle season tips, tricks, and techniques for all hunters to use, especially those that may not own their own land.
Steve Swiertz, our Washington county conservation officer, brought in two fellow wardens to discuss safety and ethics to apply while in the woods as well as a question and answer segment to help hunters understand the rule book.
Good luck to all hunters for a safe and successful deer season.
