Top ranked high school wrestling begins on Friday, January 9 in the Cheesehead Invitational at Kaukauna High School. It is scheduled to run through Saturday, January 10. 44 teams will be there, including nationally ranked talent.
Schools from around the country are scheduled to participate, including Florida, Illinois, Missouri and Minnesota. This year, 12 teams from Wisconsin will be competing on the mat including Kaukauna, Hartford Union High School, Arrowhead, Oconomowoc, West Bend West, East Troy, Fennimore, Mineral Point, Mount Horeb, Pulaski, Stoughton and Wrightstown.
All wrestlers get multiple matches and wrestle both days.
Southeast Polk, Iowa have earned the past two team championships at the annual tournament. The last time a Wisconsin school won the Cheesehead Team Championship was in 2008, with Wausau West High School.
