58th Assembly District State Representative Rick Gundrum (R-Slinger) recognized Slinger High School Head Football Coach Bill Jacklin as a Hometown Hero on Thursday, January 15.
Coach Jacklin is a lifelong member of the Slinger community and a proud Slinger High School graduate who returned home to serve as a teacher and head varsity football coach. Under his leadership, the Slinger Owls completed a perfect 14–0 season in 2024 and captured their second state football championship. In 2025, he was nationally recognized as the NFL’s Don Shula High School Coach of the Year for the NFC.
"Coach Jacklin represents the very best of our community," Gundrum said in a news release. He is a dedicated educator, a respected leader, and someone who has spent his life investing in young people in Slinger and the surrounding area. Bill returned home to give back to the school and town that shaped him, and for more than a decade he has led the Slinger Owls with integrity, discipline and heart."
Gundrum expressed how honored he is to recognize Coach Jacklin as a Hometown Hero of the 58th Assembly District.
