Good showing for Slinger's Outdoors Club

The Slinger High School Outdoors Club is made up of students focused on fishing and hunting. They host tournaments, including open-water events and have been recognized as a top fishing team.

Their first tournament of 2026 included a lot of wind, cold temperatures and snow. They competed in the WIFA 300 Inch Challenge, which included two divisions with 104 high schools. Slinger earned a sixth place finish.

It's a Wisconsin Interscholastic Fishing Association event where high school teams aim to catch a "mixed bag" of fish including perch and bluegill, along with gamefish like northern pike and walleye totaling over 300 inches in length.
