High honors for two girls basketball players

The Hartford Union High School girls basketball team continues to have an impressive season, after an impressive win over North Shore Conference rival Homestead, 79-38 on January 16. The Orioles improve to 9-5, and a 4-1 conference mark. Alexis Shelsta scored 20 points with Rita Kuepper contributing 18 points. Bella Klages added 15.

A tough loss to Arrowhead, 87-69 on January 13 provided some positive highlights for Hartford. Klages, a senior for Hartford Union High School, scored her 1,000th career point becoming the fourth girl basketball player in school history to reach this milestone. Klages joins Makena Christian, Chris Shelsta and Tami Baalke.

Kuepper, a junior for the Orioles, broke the school record with nine 3-pointers in a single game. She finished with 39 points in the game against Arrowhead.
