Minnesota women's basketball team (20-6, 11-4 Big Ten) defeated the Wisconsin Badgers (13-13, 5-10 Big Ten) 83-60 on the road on Sunday, February 15.
Minnesota out-rebounded Wisconsin 29-26 in Sunday's game, paced by six boards from Hart. The Gophers also grabbed 10 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second chance points, according to gopherssports.com.
The Minnesota defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Sunday's game, forcing 21 Wisconsin turnovers while committing 12. Those takeaways turned into 26 points on the other end of the floor.
Gophers' freshman guard Makena Christian is off to a great start in her college career, after finishing as Hartford Union High School's all time leading rebounder and was recognized as the No. 1 guard from the state of Wisconsin in the Prep Girls Hoops rankings coming out of high school. She played over 14 minutes in this rivalry game, scored five points and had one steal.
Christian has a total of 12 steals this season and is a 72 percent free throw shooter for Minnesota, while averaging four points per game.
