Jordan Stolz of Kewaskum is all smiles after Olympic run

The most decorated American athlete at the Winter Olympics, 21-year-old speed skater Jordan Stolz, of Kewaskum, exited the Games with a 4th-place finish in the mass start event on February 21, narrowly missing bronze. He is the only U.S. athlete to win two individual gold medals at these Olympics, and the only one to win three total medals, making him statistically the most successful American athlete who competed in Italy, according to NBC Sports.

Stolz won his first-ever Olympic gold medal on Wednesday, February 11. The Wisconsin native dominated the men’s 1000m speed skating event, setting an Olympic record with a time of 1:06.28, according to NBC Sports. Stolz entered the event as the world record holder (1:05.37) and a two-time world champion in the distance.

He earned his second Olympic speedskating gold medal on Saturday, February 14 becoming the first American since 1980 to win two gold medals in the sport. NBC Sports reported that Stolz finished first in the 500-meter event, with a time of 33:79, which is an Olympic record.
